DeviantArt is begging for money again, but with my art being targeted by haters, and promptly removed by DA staff, I don't know if I bother uploading anything anymore. After returning from the summer vacation I've ended up with a massive depression, and I've really considered quitting, several times in fact. I'll probably stay, but I don't know if I care to spend money on a new year of CORE membership if I can't say for sure I'll be here that long, either leaving on my own, or getting banned for having too many reports. Sadly, it's not just me and my account which is affected by this, it's also my groups and their members, as well as groups I'm helping out as admin. I just can't handle stuff right now... I really don't know, should I stay or should I go?

It's been a while since last image was deleted by the staff (read: the unchecked algorithm), this time the image "Skip Rope Workout", where the staff member giving an explanation as to the reason said that it showed an erect penis. Bullshit! The image clearly shows that it's dangling, a result of motion and that it is limp! But I guess logic doesn't apply, so I don't expect to get the image restored, even if I censor it (unnecessarily). If you saw it, maybe saved it, good for you, but if you didn't get a chance to see it, sorry, but it's too late. This piece of art is gone, probably forever. Soon my NSFW folder will be so empty that there'll be tumblers.

DeviantArt staff has started deleting my mature content images, starting with "Doctor's Office", claiming "Based on our staff review it has been determined that the character(s) depicted in this deviation in a nude, erotic or sexually compromising fashion is classified as being under the age of 18 in their original context." The characters were created for the image, with names I made up written in the description, and as such they can't claim this. I've of course disputed the removal, but I doubt DA staff will reconsider, they don't seem to have much interest in listening to any objections, and they're surely going to refer to some ToS rule to keep it removed. The image was deleted yesterday, I just didn't have time to respond.

Shortly after I disputed the first image being deleted, I get another one removed, "Angel in Hell", claiming "Based on our staff review this content has been determined to be unacceptable for submission to DeviantArt due to the material being prohibited by the DeviantArt terms of service and related policies and has been removed." I guess this is their reply to my dispute, as it came shortly afterwards. To really rub it in, they also deleted "Hyperspatial Translocator", this time claiming "A member of staff has reviewed a report concerning this deviation and has found that the content is considered to be explicitly pornographic, a particular type of content which is prohibited in the DeviantArt terms of service." Seems like the staff member who deleted the first image is the one reading the dispute, and decided to really twist the knife around.

I expect more, if not all, of my mature content to be deleted before this is over, and I wonder if I'll ever get a response to my initial dispute at all. I doubt it will ever happen.

I want to say thank you to everyone who contacted me after my last journal, both in comments there, and in private notes. Your words really helped me lift my spirit. The situation of my family member is still undetermined, but there will probably be an operation later this week. We pray, even if I'm not a religious person, that she will wake up after the surgery, and that there's no late complications as she recovers. She's lived a long and good life, having passed 70 years, but I wish there was some peace in the family, all the arguing has probably been making her situation worse, at least giving her more misery.

I'm trying to recover myself, doing stuff which help me take my mind off my problems, things not requiring much thinking or focus. My main distraction has been playing MMORPGs with a bit of actual roleplay in between. It helps me relax more than a butt massage! 😛 I'll start working through the list of submissions soon, and open the group again, then get the April 2018 contest going as soon as possible.
